PBIS at Stewart Elementary
Showing PRIDE
Stewart Elementary School students are showing PRIDE in everything they do! PRIDE stands for Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Empathy, and it is the school's core values.
The Stewart Family staff developed the school wide expectations in the 2017-2018 school year through their PBIS program and a profound focus on the behaviors staff want to see. The students then helped the staff to define what each of those behaviors look like; one behavior was given to each grade level to define. Those expectations have become the foundation of the Stewart Family culture.
Students at Stewart Elementary are demonstrating PRIDE in many ways. They are persevering in their studies, even when challenges arise. They are treating each other with respect, regardless of their differences. They are acting with integrity, even when no one is watching. They are dedicated to their schoolwork and to their classmates. And they are showing empathy for others, both inside and outside of the school community.
Several students shared their thoughts about PRIDE at Stewart:
Hadley Mcloud- 4th grade "PRIDE is something we have in our school that everyone should follow to be nice and kind to everyone and leave no one out"
Marlee "Mars" Winans 2nd Grade- "PRIDE has one letter of all the good things you should do. Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Empathy, show all of those things and you will have a good life"
Keegan Goff-5th grade- "When you think about doing something bad, you think about PRIDE and then do the right thing"
Stephen Sackett- 1st grade- "People be nice to you"
Stewart’s P.T.O. is also actively involved in the PRIDE culture at Stewart Elementary School through “Stewie Neutron,” the school mascot, and the POP store (Points of Pride). Stewie greets students a few times a week at the entrance of Stewart Elementary with high-fives, hugs, and dance parties! He also participates in all of the school activities and events. The POP Store is a “kid-favorite” aspect of the culture as students earn tickets for demonstrating Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Empathy and are then able to use tickets to purchase items.
Stewart Elementary School is committed to helping students develop the skills and character traits they need to be successful in life. "Our students are amazing," said Principal Samantha Lantis. "They are constantly showing us what it means to be perseverant, respectful, honest, dedicated, and empathetic. We are so lucky to have them as part of our school community."
